Saturday on the Rooftop

Soon the rooftop wore bright leaves, and slim green chilies dangled like little lanterns from cracked pots. Some mornings, Vivaan hurried up in his blue sandals, peeking under leaves while pigeons cooed nearby. “Papa, this one grew!” he cried.
